HomeMy Public PortalAbout20081003 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION OCTOBER 3, 2008 1 CALL TO ORDER The October 3, 2008, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:00 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Harvey, Klindt, Layton (arrived at 12:10 P.M.), Koon, Medin, Penfold, and Randolph Absent: Carroll and Ferguson A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS 2008 -66 (rezoning Portabello Place) - Several questions were asked which City Planner Janice McMillan answered. RS2008 -25 (recognition of 2008 Outstanding Employee) - Mayor John Landwehr asked if the Council would agree to take up this item early on the agenda to allow Ms. Toebben to leave the meeting and get back to her family. The Council had no objections to Mayor Landwehr's suggestion. RS2008 -29 (Road and Bridge Tax funds) - A lengthy discussion was held on this issue to explain the current funding which the City receives and the statutes which now make it possible for the City to receive a higher percentage of the property taxes collected by Cole County from the citizens inside the City. Mayor John Landwehr explained this is simply a formal request to the County to set aside the percentage of taxes collected from City residents allowed by state statute for the purpose of funding road and bridge projects in the City. New Business (City- County Arterial Investment Policy) - Mayor John Landwehr explained recent discussions which pertained to the issue, and stated more discussions would continue in the future to ensure a solid policy is in place for future expansion projects involving the City and the unincorporated areas of the county near the City. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 12:45 P.M.
