A RESOLUTION OF THE LYNWOOD CITY COUNCIL
SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 1058 ESTABLISHING A
PROGRAM TO REDUCE CARBON DIOXIDE VEHICULAR
EMISSIONS AND URGING THE CALIFORNIA STATE LEGISLATURE
R AND GOVERNOR TO ADOPT THE LEGISLATION INTO LAW
WHEREAS, One of the most pressirig environmental issues at this time is global
warming, and
WHEREAS, Global warming has a high level of impact on public health ahd the
environment and will increase air quality problems as higher temperatures lead to
increased concentrations.of smog, resulting in more cases or respiratory illness; and
WHEREAS, In order to slow the effects of global warming, it is necessary to
control and reduce erriissions~of°greenhouse gas, of which carbon dioxide is the most
significant; and
WHEREAS, California is home to'/z of one percent of the world's population yet
produces nearly two percent of global carbon emissions In addition, the majority of the
carbon dioxide emissions produced in the state are from passenger vehicles, and
WHEREAS,, AB •1058 will require the Air Resources Board to develop and
implement a program by 2005 to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from all'
passenger vehicles and light duty frucks in California and provide a report to the
legislature about the proposed .program in 2004

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL "OF'THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY .FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to carry .out any
necessary transactions as so ordered by this resolution
Section 2. The City of Lynwood supports Assembly Bill 1058 and. urges the
State Legislature and the Governor-,to adopt this legislation into law
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption
PASSED, APPROVED; AND ADOPTED THIS 5th day of February, 2002
