A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO HAVE DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE AND
CALIFORNIA DRIVERS LICENSE (DUI/CDL)
CHECKPOINTS FROM FEBRUARY TO JUNE 2002
~ WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood as part of its strategic plan expressed the
~! desire to create and maintain a safe a community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has been actively involved with the
County of Los Angeles Sheriff's Department in conducting monthly Driving Under
the Influence and California Drivers License (DUI/CDL) Checkpoints; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Department has reported the effectiveness of
conducting DUI/CDL Checkpoints in controlling drunk and unlicensed drivers in
Lynwood as well as reducing hit and run traffic collisions; and
WHEREAS, additional appropriations are necessary to carry out this
operation for the remainder of the fiscal year
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to carry out
any necessary transactions as so ordered by this resolution
Section 2. That the City Council authorize the City Manager or his
~ designee to utilize unappropriated LLEBG and Brulte grant funds along with
unappropriated Drug Seizure funds, and the unappropriated general fund up to
$75,000 to pay for DUI/CDL Checkpoints
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 5th day of February, 2002.
