Minutes of the Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 meeting
4 :00 pm in Meeting Room B, Brewster Town Hall
The meeting was called to order at 4 :05 PM by Norm Adams, Chair.
Members present : Norm Adams, Janet Husband and Walter Powers
Non-members present : James Paul Ludwig, Video Services Coordinator and Town
Administrator Charlie Sumner
Draft minutes of the July 3rd, August 15t and Sept. 51h meetings were distributed . Janet Husband
moved and Norm Adams seconded a motion to accept the minutes . The vote was 3 yes, 0 no
and 0 abstentions. The minutes were accepted .
Town Administrator Charlie Sumner presented a map showing the progress of the cabling for
the Open Cape project . CapeNet is the local contractor doing the work. Each town will have 1
gig of access . Open Cape will facilitate better communication making municipal networks,
regional networks and commercial networks better, faster, and hopefully cheaper. Brewster will
spend $ 170, 000-$ 190,000 to complete the towns cabling and infrastructure when the main
cables are operational .
A grand opening of the Collocation Center at 3195 Main St., Barnstable was scheduled for Sept .

After Charlie left the meeting, members discussed operations at the LCCAT headquarters in
Eastham and the transition from Channel 17 to 99 . Janet expressed her dissatisfaction with the
clarity of signal . Garrett told her that the transition would be the time to tackle Comcast about
the fuzzy reception in Brewster. James Paul suggested that Comcast will ignore complaints
unless it can be proven . One way to do this is to have an outside company test the output by
"putting a scope on it." Gary Pink at the Camera Company can do this work. Cost would
probably be around $ 75 . The Committee agreed that this would be a good thing to recommend
to Garrett .
The next meeting was set for Wednesday, November 7 at 4 pm .
Janet Husband moved and Walter Powers seconded the movement to adjourn .
The meeting was adjourned at 5 : 32 pm .
