HomeMy Public PortalAbout20081114 BB worksessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION NOVEMBER 14, 2008 1 CALL TO ORDER The November 14, 2008, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:07 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Carroll, Ferguson, Harvey, Layton, Koon, Medin, Penfold, Scrivner and *Randolph (arrived at 12:17 P.M.) Absent: Klindt A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Appointments: Human Resources Director Gail Strope was asked questions about a couple of the appointments and she stated she will check on the status and report back to the Council before they are voted on Monday night. Consent Agenda: Councilman Bob Scrivner asked City Clerk Phyllis Powell to correct the November 3 Pre - Meeting Council Minutes to show that he was in attendance. Those minutes will be corrected before they are voted on Monday night. *Councilwoman Anita Randolph arrived at this point in the meeting (12:17 P.M.) Reports: Councilman Ron Medin requested that a report on the pedestrian walkway on the Missouri River Bridge be added to the agenda for Monday night. Assistant to the City Administrator Melva Fast will be making that report. Assistant Community Director Charles Lansford was asked to make a brief announcement on the issue of political signs on Monday night. Councilman Jim Penfold asked if the amount collected for the lodging tax would be the same as indicated in the CVB budget. City Administrator Steve Rasmussen answered his questions. Mayor John Landwehr stated that he wished to disclose he had had previous dealings with Turn Key Mobile when they were originally established. Informal Calendar: Bill 2008 -72, Substitute #3, will be drafted and distributed before Monday night. Councilman Jim Penfold requested that the issue remain on the Informal COUNCIL WORK SESSION NOVEMBER 14, 2008 2 Calendar. Discussion was held regarding his request, after which Councilman Mike Harvey stated he would leave it on the Informal Calendar for one more meeting to allow for public input at a Council meeting before it is voted on. Mayor John Landwehr announced he will make himself available to speak to the media and answer questions following the next Brown Bag meeting on December 12. He stated that any Council Members who wish to joint him are more than welcome to do so. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 12:55 P.M.
