WARRANT

To: Roland W. Bassett
Constable of the Town of Brewster
Greetings:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby directed to notify
and warn the inhabitants of Brewster who are qualified to vote in town affairs to meet at the
Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main Street, in said Brewster on TUESDAY, THE
SEVENTEENTH OF MAY 2005, then and there to elect the following officers:
One Selectmen for three years
One Moderator for one year
One Constable for one year
Two Board of Health members for three years
One Water Commissioner for three years
One Brewster Housing Authority member for five years
Two Brewster School Committee members for three years
Two Planning Board members for five years
Two Recreation Commission members for three years
Two Recreation Commission members for two unexpired
two year terms
One Old Kings Highway Regional Historic District Committee
member for four years
One Nauset Regional School District Committee member for three
years
And vote upon the following ballot questions:
A) Shall the Town of Brewster be allowed to assess an additional $223,488.00 in real
estate and personal property taxes for the purpose of funding Brewster’s share of the
Schools facilities maintenance and equipment replacement at the High School and the
Middle School of the Nauset Regional School District for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2005?
B) Shall the Town of Brewster be allowed to assess an additional $130,000.00 in real estate and
personal property taxes for the purpose of funding two (2) firefighter positions and the
related employee benefits for the Fire Department for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2005?
C) Shall the Town of Brewster be allowed to assess an additional $55,000.00 in real estate and
personal property taxes for the purpose of funding Brewster’s share of the Outer Cape Flex
Route Transportation service by the Cape Cod Regional Transportation Authority for fiscal
year beginning July 1, 2005?
D) Shall the Town of Brewster adopt Section 298 of Chapter 149 of the Acts of 2004, as
approved by the November 2004 Fall Yearly Town Meeting, a summary of which appears
below?
QUESTION SUMMARY
Acceptance of Section 298 of Chapter 149 of the Acts of 2004 means the Community
Preservation Act shall effectively replace the Cape Cod Open Space Land Acquisition
Program. There shall be no additional excise on real property levied, other than the current
3 percent levied for the provision of the Cape Cod Open Space Land Acquisition Program.
Acceptance of this section shall allow the community to access state matching funds up to
100 percent of the excise on real property currently levied, which was previously unavailable
to the town.
