Piccirilli, Jr. Whereas: the towns of Arlington, Belmont and Watertown, as well as the cities of Newton, Waltham, Cambridge and Boston share some contiguous borders; and, Whereas: each city and town face similar challenges in maintaining appropriate municipal services in this time of national and state financial stress, Now therefore be it resolved that: 1. We will work collaboratively to identify ways that we can share resources and develop regional efficiencies which will serve to more efficiently utilize tax revenues in the delivery of continuous high quality municipal services. 2. We will work to form a working group consisting of respective town managers, mayors, administrators, and appropriate civic leaders to meet regularly in order to explore specific cost and resource sharing strategies. 3. We will actively work with our respective state representatives and senators to identify specific state and federal programs, and grant agencies to seek and apply for grant funds which can be utilized to gather information, and explore programmatic solutions designed to reduce costs and create greater efficiency in the delivery of education, municipal services and public safety performance. 4. The working group will welcome any additional communities in our region who wish to join this important effort.
