PRIORITY BUSINESS
Administrators ' Reports
Vice Chair Enochty asked members to email the Principals if they had questions with the reports that were included in
the packet.
Mr. Gauley report was included in the packet and there were no questions from committee members .
Superintendent Conrad reported that at the Joint School Committee meeting they will ratify the teacher, educational
assistant and secretarial contracts . He enthusiastically shared his visit to MIT to look at a PreK — 12 Robotics
Program. He toured the Lincoln Lab, Media Centers and applied learning facilities . MIT is happy to assist in any way
to help in the public school system . There is a possibility that staff will come and do professional development with
Nauset teachers . He is considering modeling the Einstein Institute at the High School where the District brings
teachers in for a 34 week program in science . In his PreK42 initiative, MIT would help with what would be a wise
investment in technology going forward. The Director of the Lincoln Lab is meeting with the Superintendent next
week. He would also like to see if we could use student teachers from MIT in the district. He would like to get
students from the MIT architectural school to work on the High School building project and sit on the building
committee .

He reported that, to date, there are 50 students registered for Kindergarten . Historically, 5 or 6 more students on
average may register. That will put Stony Brook at the minim number of students in a class according to School
Committee class size guidelines for Kindergarten . Administration will be watching this very carefully.
He also reported that the $ 1 . 3 million feasibility study was approved in all four towns . A question was raised in one of
the towns relative to enrollment and the number of region students compared to school choice students . A suggestion
was made to move the Gr 6 students back to the elementary schools if the region decide not to participate in school
choice This would require a good deal of discussion and research. He wanted the committee to know what was being
discussed in the community. The Regional School Committee will also, at some point, tackle this question. The
Superintendent indicated that the Feasibility Study would take at least 18 months . The first modular to be submitted to
the MSBA is a great deal of data on enrollment.
