A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD TO APPLY FOR THE OFFICE OF DEPARTMENT
OF CONSERVATION (DOC) PROGRAM GRANT FOR
FUNDING FOR BEVERAGE CONTAINER RECYCLING AND
LITTER CLEANUP PROJECTS
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California
Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act that provides funds to cities and counties
for beverage container recycling and litter cleanup activities, and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Conservation's Division of Recycling
has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within the State, setting
up necessary procedures for cities and counties or their designees under the program; and
WHEREAS; per Section 14581 (a) (4) (E) of the California Beverage Container
Recycling and Litter Reduction Act, the eligible participant must submit the Funding Request
Form by the due date and time in order to request funds from the Department of Conservation
Division of Recycling
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood will apply for DOC Program Grant eligible
funding in the amount of $41,090, for beverage container recycling and litter cleanup projects
through the City/county payment program. The DOC will allocate $20,545 for FY 2001/02 and
$20,545 for fiscal year 2002/03. The total amount for the two fiscal years will be distributed
simultaneously to the City of Lynwood at the beginning of the state fiscal year instead of the end
(fiscal cycle runs from July 1 to June 30)
NOW, THEREFORE, that the City Council of the City of Lynwood authorizes the
1 ~ submittal of the Funding Request Form to the Department of Conservations' Division of
Recycling The Director of Environmental Services, is hereby authorized and empowered to
'- execute in the name of the City of Lynwood all necessary forms hereto for the purposes of
securing payments and to implement and carry out the purposes specified m the Section 14581 (a)
(4) (A) of the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act and provide ~
information regarding this program to the Department of Conservations' Division of Recycling
upon request.
