RESOLUTION SOLICITING THAT THE STATE OF OAXACA, MEXICO
THROUGH ITS GOVERNOR, ENTRUST TO THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ITS
STATUE OF MEXICO'S GREATEST PRESIDENT, BENITO JUAREZ
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jose Murat Casab, Governor of the great
State of Oaxaca, Mexico has honored the City of Lynwood by visiting our City in
order to~ view first hand the progress being made in the construction of Plaza
Mexico, and
°`~ WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood would be deeply honored if Governor
Murat Casab and the State of Oaxaca were to entrust to it a bronze statue of one
~~ of Mexico's greatest presidents, Benito Juarez, so that it may be displayed at
Plaza Mexico and thusly inspire all that visit the development; and
WHEREAS, via this Resolution the City Council of the City of Lywnood
hereby pledges that if the people of Oaxaca entrust to Lynwood the statue of its
greatest native son, the statue will be diligently guarded and cared for so that it
may continue to inspire and remind everyone that even the most humble of us
can rise to greatness,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FIND, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

1 That this Resolution be considered by the Honorable Jose Murat
Casab as a formal request. that the statue of President Benito Juarez
be entrusted to "the City of Lynwood for display in a location and in a
manner appropriate to inspire its citizens and visitors for generations to
come
2 That the City Manager is hereby authorized to make the arrangements
necessary to transport the stature locally and to assure that it is
installed appropriately
3 That this Resolution takes effect immediately
