HomeMy Public PortalAbout1984-040it Member moved its adoption: introduced the following resolution and CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 84-40 RESOLUTION DECLARING THE COSTS TO BE ASSESSED, ORDERING THE PREPARATION OF A PROPOSED ASSESSMENT AND SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ASSESSMENT OF HUNTER DRIVE SOUTH WHEREAS, the costs have been determined for the improvement of Hunter Drive South between the centerline of County Road 24 and the south corporate limits of the City of Medina, said im- provement consisting of the grading, base and asphalt surfacing of the said street; and WHEREAS, the bid price and the estimated additional costs of making the improvement is $195,046.70, and the expenses for engin- eering, administrative and legal costs is $25,356.07 incurred or to be incurred in the making of the improvement, so that the total cost of the improvement project is $220,402.77. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDINA, MINNESOTA: 1. The portion of the cost of such improvement to be paid by the City is hereby declared to be $60,000.00 and the portion of the costs to be assessed against benefitted property own- ers is declared to be $160,402.77. 2. The City Clerk, with the assistance of the consulting engin- eer shall forthwith calculate the proper amount to be spe- cially assessed for such improvement against every assessable lot, piece or parcel of land within the district affected, without regard to cash valuation, as provided by law, and a copy of such proposed assessment shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk for public inspection. 3. The hearing shall be held on the 7th day of August, 1984, at 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall at 2052 County Road 24, to pass upon the proposed assessment and at such time place all per- sons owning property affected by such improvement will be given an opportunity to be heard with reference to such as- sessment. 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause a notice of the hearing on the proposed assessment to be published once in the official newspaper at least two weeks prior to the hear- ing, and the Clerk shall state in the notice the total cost of the improvement. The Clerk shall also cause mailed no- tice to be given to the owner of each parcel described in the assessment roll, not less than two weeks prior to the said hearing.
