HomeMy Public PortalAboutLadies Library -- 2017-08-17 Minutes Minutes of the meeting of the Brewster Ladies Library Association, Inc. 8/17/17 Members of the board present : Ms, Cassidy, Ms . O'Connell, Ms. Hewitt, Ms . Mathison, Ms. Gerrish, Ms . Schaible, Ms. Pearson, Ms. Courtnell, Ms. Anastasio, Mr. Mauterstock, Mr. Lowery, Mr. Gorman as was Library Director, Kathy Cockcroft .The meeting was called to order at 4PM . It was moved, seconded and voted to accept the minutes of the Secretary's report of the lune meeting. Treasurer's Report : As we are only one month into the fiscal year there Is little to report on the financial statements. Campaign software was purchased and our first installment to the campaign consultant made. The Treasurer opened two accounts for the campaign at CCS . The book sale is about $4000 behind last year's record revenue but is still expected to make budget by year end . It was moved, seconded and voted unanimously to accept the report . Director's Report : June and July statistics were reviewed . Town meeting on 11/13 has no items affecting the Library. The chiller has been repaired and working properly. A plaque was shown honoring Dick Locklear that will be placed on a rock at the base of the flag pole as part of the new landscaping. Buildings and Grounds : The plantings are complete and only one plant shows signs of distress and will be replaced under guarantee. The basement is being cleaned out and record retention protocol being followed . There is still $ 11,000 left in the landscaping grant. Fund Raising: At the September meeting a comprehensive report will be given on the decisions and progress to date, committee needs, a schedule and a review of the case for support. Membership : Mailings have gone out for renewal membership . The "2S9'o" theme will be Incorporated Into our communications. A membership/information event was held at Drummer Boy Park Farmers market and was very successful . Barbara forwarded a comprehensive report to the board concerning IT issues and the Membership Committee will use this as it moves forward with migration to a new system . Nickerson Event : Ms . Hewitt reports that 212 reservations have already been made and Dana Eldridge, a frequent' columnist from the Cape will be a second presenter. Communications : Ms. O'Connell has assumed the liaison responsibilities for the Board for this topic. By-laws and Policies : The amendments to the bylaws that were approved a t the annual meeting will be archived on the email site. Personnel : Alan Hall has been hired as our new full time custodian . Wick will be retiring on 8/28 . Applications are coming in to the committee for the Director position and the process was explained to the Board . New Business : Michael Facker donated a map of Brewster circa 1860 and the Board voted unanimously to accept the gift. Its value is being determined and It will be insured if appropriate.
