CALL TO ORDER
The Work Session of May 14, 2007, was convened at 5:30 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Crane, Klindt, Koon, Layton, Medin, Penfold, and Smith
Absent: Brown, Ferguson, and Harvey
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION
Human Relations Commission
Mayor John Landwehr asked Stu Murphy of the Human Relations Commission to give a
presentation regarding the Commission's recent public forum held at Lincoln University.
Following his presentation, the Council asked questions.
Highway 50 Partnership
Randy Allen of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce distributed a handout
regarding this issue. He stated the Chamber will be asking the City for $17,000 for to help
pay a portion of the study. Discussion was held regarding the time frame that the funding
would be needed. Mr. Allen stated the study needs to be done this summer. Following
further discussion, Mayor John Landwehr suggested that the issue be placed on the next
Finance Committee agenda.
City IP Telephone System
ITS Director Bill Betts made a presentation regarding IP telephone system for the City. He
indicated using this telephone system would save the city money. Mayor John Landwehr
asked Mr. Betts to make a note to talk to the JCTV Steering Committee to make sure they
in communication and do not do something that might conflict with any of their plans in the
future. Following Mr. Betts' presentation, Councilman Brian Crane stated he thinks the city
should start moving on this as soon as possible. Staff was directed to bring it before the
whole council in some form, possibly a resolution, at the next Council meeting.
