HomeMy Public PortalAbout1984-057Member i ne 6-c its adoption: introduced the following resolution and moved CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. i RESOLUTION APPROVING SEWER CONNECTIONS AT INDEPENDENCE BEACH FOR WASTEWATER FROM THE CITY OF INDEPENDENCE WHEREAS, the City of Independence has sought and received Fed- eral and State grants to correct pollution problems resulting from poorly functioning septic systems on and around the shores of Lake Independence and Lake Sarah, in the City of Independence; and WHEREAS, engineers for the City of Independence have determined that the most feasible method of correcting these pollution problems is the construction of on -site septic systems with the resulting sep- tate therefrom being pumped to the Maple Plain Treatment Plant; and WHEREAS, engineers for the City of Independence have determined that the most feasible route of transporting the septate includes connections to the Independence Beach Sewer System in the City of Medina; and WHEREAS, the City of Independence has requested permission to make connections to the sewer mains of the Independence Beach Sewer System; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDINA that the request of the City of Independence to make con- nection to the Independence Beach Sewer System is hereby approved, subject to the following conditions: 1. The flow from the City of Independence shall not exceed eighty- eight (88) single family dwelling equivalent connections. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney and the City En- gineer are hereby authorized and directed to prepare a contract for the construction, service and maintenance of the combined City of Independence Wastewater Project and the Independence Beach Sewer System, generally following the provisions of the Long Lake--Orono-- Medina Sanitary Sewer Construction and Service Agreement dated August 10, 1981; PROVIDED that the City of Independence reimburse the City of Medina for any legal and engineering costs involved in preparing the contract.
