Eter 405 S.Bloomington Street Greencastle,IN 46135 Board of Park Commissioners Meeting July 5,2023 Robe Ann Park Present:David Bault(DB),Eric Bernsee,Greg Ruark(gkr),Cathy Merrell(CM),Joanna Muncie(JM),Tim Trigg(TT),Stacie Langdon,Becky Hunsinger,Mayor Dory Absent:Doug Hutchison • CM opened meeting at 6PM • The June 2023 minutes were reviewed-CM motioned to approve;IM second;motion passed 3-0 • Claims for June 2023 were reviewed and discussed.There was discussion regarding Feutz Construction and their final billing process. Mayor Dory indicated his displeasure in some of the areas where grass was seeded and the poor quality of the topsoil used for these areas.It is hoped Feutz will return at some point and make good in these areas. 'FT motioned to approve the claims;CM second; passed 3-0 New Business • Becky Hunsinger requested the use of the Aquatic Center for the 2023 Triathlon,a fundraiser for the Greencastle High School Girls' Soccer team.The date is July 22.The fundraiser is to assist with the cost of travel meals this fall. Motion to approve by CM;second by JM; passed 3-0 Old Business • Bandshell repairs.The Mayor has been talking to Todd Scoggins,the architect of the building.Todd is working on specifications for the repair work necessary to fix the leaking. Todd has also spoken with Bill Mentgen,a local contractor,to get input on the plan.It may require a bid process. • Republic Services will be delivering 60 new trash containers to be used throughout the parks system.The Greencastle Board of Works contract may need to be amended as a result. • Lighting project process at Big Walnut Sports Park is ongoing.The Mayor has made contact with two lighting engineering firms to solicit interest in the project.Both firms are interested.City Attorney Laurie Hardwick is putting together a Request for Quotes, however,it may require full Request for Proposal.Mayor Dory also asked the two firms to consider a plan for lighting in Robe Ann Park as well. • Phase two of the Robe Ann Park renovation project.The process is ongoing,with Align Engineering finalizing the design after a recent meeting with Mayor Dory and Greg Ruark.Jessica Hartman of Align,anticipates coming to the August Board meeting to present the design.The bathroom package of the renovation is also ongoing and will be handled independently and in advance of the main renovation.Tabatha Briones,with Align,is handling this process and is awaiting final RFP language from Laurie Hardwick and City Inspector Patrick Thibodeaux. Director's Report • Aquatic Center is enjoying a fantastic summer.Attendance at Celebrate 4's free swim day was 726 and$956.00 was collected at the --/ concession stand. • General discussion was held regarding the Celebrate 4 event.Those in attendance agreed everything went well.There were 86 runner/walkers at the Rokicki Memorial 5K Run/Walk.Dozens attended the fitness class,sponsored by The Warehouse.The Greencastle Civic League enjoyed a great pancake breakfast.Twenty vehicles participated in the first Cruise-In next shelter 5.The plan is to bring back the car show in 2024.Mortonville Fireworks put on another fantastic 22.minute fireworks show. Motion to adjourn the meeting by TT;second by JM;passed 3-0.
