CALL TO ORDER
The August 31, 2007, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by Mayor
John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Brown, Crane, Ferguson, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Layton, Medin, and
Penfold
Absent: Smith
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
2007 -65 (landlord registration): Mayor John Landwehr stated a landlord registration
system already exists in the City Code and the new ordinance needs to take that into
account. Discussion held regarding removing the language "renew registration" from Section
8 -115.
2007 -70 (adopting budget): Councilman Ferguson stated he will place this on the Informal
Calendar.
2007 -72: Councilman Dan Klindt stated this bill will either be placed on the Informal
Calendar, or voted on tonight, but that he is unsure at this time. Councilman Jim Penfold
asked if a GIS map could be generated for the Council's reference at the meeting Tuesday
night.
2007 -73: A substitute bill was distributed on which Councilman Ron Medin explained the
details. Councilman Brian Crane stated his concern for making changes to the agreement
when an August 17 date was given as a deadline.
Informal Calendar
2007 -45, 2007 -46, and 2007 -57 (airport leases): Councilman Dan Klindt stated he thinks
he will leave these on the Informal Calendar until all parties have had a chance to

understand everything going on concerning the issue of airport leases.
2007 -59 (painting Ivy Terrace): Staff will have an update on the progress of this on
Tuesday night.
New Business:
Councilman Kevin Brown mentioned a September 6 Public Officials' Conference on
Emergency Management and asked if anyone wanted to attend to contact Bonnie Schroder
at City Hall to get on the list.
Mayor John Landwehr stated that he would like Councilman Brian Crane to give a report
on the status of the Conference Center Selection Committee at Tuesday night's meeting.
