Your cooperation with the 2000 Census could be of great benefit to the Town of Gulf Stream Drainage Engineering Studies Update As reported in the last newsletter, the Town Commission hired an engineering firm to assist us in evaluating potential drainage improvements. As of this date the following progress has been made: • The Commission authorized initiation of the permitting process for the storage pond, pump station and generator at the south end of the Little Club property. An application for a South Florida Water Management District permit will be submitted in April. The project is currently in the design stage' and this process will take several months. • A new flap gate (to help prevent back up onto streets during high tide at Polo and Banyan) was approved by the Town Commission on February 11, 2000, and is scheduled for installation in mid - March. • A project to interconnect the Gulf Stream School's drainage system with the Town's system has been authorized by the Town Commission. This project is intended to improve the drainage along Gulf Stream Road adjacent to the school. The School has agreed to cost share this project and the work will be completed during Spring break. • The engineers have studied the area north of Golfview and east of Polo and have determined that the problems experienced are directly related to topography; it is one of the lowest lying areas south of Lakeview. The engineers are currently preparing cost estimates for evaluation of design options and will report back to the Commission. • The Commission authorized the preparation of detailed aerial topographic maps to aid in the development of other drainage improvements. Please call Town Hall if you have any questions. Sincerely, 246k mme William F. Koch, Jr., Mayor - FOR THE TOWN COMMISSION TOWN OF GULF STREAM 100 SEA ROAD GULF STREAM, FL 33483 PLANNING TO REPAINT?
