LYNCH August 1999 Dear Town Resident: TOWN OF GULF STREAM PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA Listed below are several updates on Town- related activities. Telephone (581) 27MI18 Fen (581) 777 -0188 Town Manager KRISTIN KERN GARRISON Town Clerk RITA L TAYLOR AlA Historic Highway Enhancement Project Completion To complete enhancement of the Town's two miles of AIA right -of -way, the Town recently replaced the metal street signs. The six public roads that intersect with AIA now have coquina- finish ground level signs with bronze lettering. These signs were custom made for our community based on design input from the Historic Highway Committee. The large palm trees have been re- staked to ensure their long -term stability. These new stakes will be removed in mid 2000. The project's long -term success will rely on adjacent property owners' voluntary care of the plant materials in front of their property. Maintenance guidelines are available at Town Hall. Please call and we will deliver a copy to any interested resident or yard service. The Town Commission is appreciative of the efforts of the Historic Highway Committee and the many supportive Town residents who have made this historic project possible. Road Repaving All of the public roads in Town were evaluated by an engineer and ranked in order of priority for repaving. The first batch of highest priority roads was paved this summer. The remaining priority roads will likely be paved sometime during the coming year (most likely next summer). The roads were paved incrementally for several reasons: • Some roads, namely Polo and Old School, have drainage issues that are currently undergoing analysis. We have delayed paving these roads until we are more certain that the pavement will not be disrupted (for example by pipe placement under the road). • These same roads have significant construction in progress or recently approved. • The Town "piggy- backed" on the County's bulk paving contract to obtain a discounted price. The recently paved roads represent a minimum load threshold. Before contracting with the paving contractor for additional roads, we wanted to ensue that the work was of acceptable quality. Letter From Chief Schultz Enclosed is a letter from our Police Chief, Robert Schultz, requesting information to update our database. Please return the completed form to Town Hall. Garbage Pickup The Town has contracted that the point of collection for single family dwellings will be the back door or just outside of the garage. Please do not bring your garbage out to the street. Reminders: • If you are planning exterior changes, such as a new paint color, major landscaping work, new roofing, mailbox, statuary, etc., please contact Town Hall prior to commencing the work. The Town's Design Manual contains provisions that may apply or approval by the Architectural Review and Planning Board may be required. All workers conducting services for your property (employees and deliveries not included) must be registered to do work in the Town. If you are hiring a contractor (for example, to do lawn work or make improvements to your home) please ask them to register at Town Hall if they are not currently on file. Occupational registration is designed to ensure workers are properly licensed and insured, and to enhance the safety of our community. 1998 Annual Water Quality Report The Town of Guif Stream is pleased to present to you this year's Annual Water Quality Report. This report is in compliance with the requirements of the latest amendments to the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act regarding consumer confidence. It is designed to better inform our water customers about the quality of water and services that we provide. The Town of Gulf Stream is committed to providing a safe and dependable supply of drinking water. Efforts have been made to assure that the water delivered to your tap is of the highest quality and complies with all State and Federal requirements. Please find enclosed the 1998 water quality report by the City of Delray Beach, which is the supplier of water to the Town of Gulf Stream.
