A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ABATE
DRY AND DRYING WEEDS ON CEERTAIN PARCELS OF
LAND IN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
, WHEREAS, Chapter 13 of the Government Code, crted as "Weed and Rubbish
~; Abatement", provides for abatement of dry and drying weeds, stubble, brush, litter, or other
~ , flammable material, that constitute Public Nuisance, and
~
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of
Lynwood by the Director of Environmental Services that there exists a public nuisance on certain
parcels of ~land in the City of Lynwood, as set forth in Attachment "A" attached herewith.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Crty of
Lynwood as follows
Section 1 That by reason of dry and drying weeds, stubble, brush, litter or other
flammable material being located on or in front thereof, a public nuisance exists upon the parcel
of land, lot or portions of lots set forth in Attachment "A", which shall be made a part of this
resolution; -
Section 2 That said weeds are hereby declared to be seasonal and current
nuisances;
Section 3. That, said weeds and/ or stubble, brush, litter or other flammable
material which endangers the public safety by creatmg a fire hazard, constitute a public nuisance
wllich must be abated by the removal thereof and that if the same are not removed by the owner
' of the properties, the nuisance will be abated by the City and the cost thereof assessed upon said
~ properties and that upon confirmat?cri, such costs will constitute lien thereon until paid,
Section 4 The Director of Envirorunental Services is directed to cause said
notices to be posted in the time, form and manner required by law;
Section 5. That the proceedings for afore said work shall be taken under an Act
of Legislature of the State of California designated as the Government Code, Chapter 13, Section
39501, et., crted as "Weeds and Rubbish Abatement", and amendments thereto;
Section 6. Notice is hereby given that on September 3, 2002 at the hour of 6:00
p.m. in'the City Hall, Council Chambers, 11330 Bullis Road, in the City of Lynwood, any and
all persons having any objections or protests to said proposed work may appear before said City
Council and show cause why said proposed work should not be carried out in accordance with
said Act;
Section 7 This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
