Over 80 percent of the break-ins in Gulf Stream occur at homes where windows and
doors are left unlocked. Some thieves are so brazen, they will enter your home if they
see you are in another part of the house or in the back yard! In a matter of a few
seconds, precious jewelry and other highly valuable items can disappear. Don't be a
victim. Lock all windows and doors, even if you are home. In addition, be sure to
report all suspicious people immediately by calling the police dispatcher at 243-
7800, or 911 if you see an actual crime in progress. With a few simple precautions,
and a watchful eye, you can prevent most crimes.
Garbage and Recycling Pick-up
Please remember that the Town pays a considerable amount to provide you with back-
door garbage and recycling pick-up. Garbage cans and recycling bins should never
be taken to the curb. Place the material outside the service door to your garage or
other appropriate place out of view where the sanitation people can get to it. Lining the
street with these containers is not only unsightly, but it can create a litter problem if the
containers get knocked over by animals or cars. If you have a gate, please place the
materials behind a hedge so they cannot be seen from the street.
If your materials are not picked up or your containers are not put back where you placed
them, please call our sanitation contractor, BFI, at 278-1717. If you have repeated
problems or questions concerning this issue, please call the Town Hall at 276-5116.
THE TOWN COMMISSION AND STAFF WISH YOU A HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAY!
