CALL TO ORDER
The November 2, 2007, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by Mayor
John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Brown, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Layton, Penfold, and Smith
Absent: Crane, Ferguson, and Medin
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Upcoming meetings & events: City Administrator Steve Rasmussen announced that a
Conference Center Selection Committee will be held on November 7 at 9:00 A.M. They will
be interviewing two developers, and he invited all the Council members to attend whether
they are on that committee or not. He also announced a Council Work Session will be held
Tuesday November 13 at 5:00 P.M. since November 12 is a holiday. Following that work
session, the 6:00 P.M. annexation public hearing will convene across the hall in the Council
Chambers.
RS2007 -29: Councilwoman Cindy Layton asked questions about the number of licensed
daycare centers are in the City and the process for inspecting them. Councilman Jim
Penfold stated he may recuse himself from discussion and action on this item due to a
conflict of interest, and he will ask City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus this afternoon about
that.
Questions were asked about how ballot language is determined. City Counselor Nathan
Nickolaus stated staff is looking at that and will be bringing something to the Council for
their consideration.
Mr. Steve Picker, Director of the Convention & Visitor's Bureau, distributed copies of the
CVB budget and pointed out a few changes, and stated he would be happy to answer any
questions between now and the time the Council will be asked to approve their budget.
