The onset of the Winter Dry Season once again calls attention to the issue of water
conservation, and landscape irrigation in particular. As you are aware, the State has mandated
that we make significant reductions in water consumption. Conservation efforts in 1990 were
excellent, but unfortunately, these efforts have waned in recent months.
Since irrigation accounts for the vast majority of our water usage, the Town has adopted
a law which established the irrigation schedule listed below. Please be assured that the
schedule provides more than enough water to maintain your landscaping with no effect on the
appearance or vitality of your plant materials.
1. Properties with odd numbered addresses may water only on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Saturdays during non -daylight hours.
2. Properties with even numbered addresses may water only on Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Sundays during non -daylight hours.
3. Watering at any property is prohibited during daylight hours of any day and at all
times on Fridays.
Your careful adherence to the above schedule is an important, and rather painless, first
step in bringing us closer to the water use goals required by the state. Other steps we can take
will be discussed in the coming months as we finalize a comprehensive water conservation
program for the Town.
