A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO SUBMIT A PROPC-SAL FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AGENCY BROV1/NFIELDS ASSESSMENT GRANT AND TO
EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS RELATIVE TO THIS GRANT
~~ WHEREAS, In 1999, the City of Lynwood received the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) Brownfields Demonstration Assessment Pilot Progra,m Grant in the
amount of $200,000, and
,
WHEREAS, The primary~purpose of the grant is to be able to characterize and
assess environmentaL conditions at selected sites and to put into piace a plan for the city
or a potentiai developer to carry out any necessary cleanup activities, and
WHEREAS, Pursuant ~to the Federaf Brownfields RevitalizationfAct, the City of
Lynwood is eligible to apply for an additional EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant in fihe
amount of $200,000, and
WHEREAS, The City ~~f Lynwood is desirous to submit a proposal to~expand its
current Brownfields activities ta additional sites where redevelopment activities are
anticipated and underway .
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby find;
proclaim, order.and resolve as follows
Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to carry out any
necessary transactions as so ordered by this resolution
Section 2. The City Manager rnay submit.to a proposal to EPA for the
Brownfields Assessment Grant„
Section 3. If the proposal is selected for approval; the City is hereby
authorized to enter into a grant agreement with EPA and any other documents
necessary for the purposes set forth in the proposa~ and approved by EPA.
Section 4. This resoluti~n shall take effect immediately upon its adoption
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of December 2002
