` A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
~ CITY QF LYNWC~pD AUTHQRIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AGENCY BROWNFIELDS JOB TRAINING GRANT AND TO ,
~ EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS RELATIVE TO THIS GRANT '
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood became actively involved in Brownfields
Redevelopment Activities in 1999 when it received the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) Brownfields Demonstration Assessment Pilot.Program Grant in the amount of
$200,000; and , ' ~
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood has maintained job training and employment
opportunities as high priority areas and has demonstrated~this belief through a
successful private HAZWOPER program, and .
WHEREAS, Pursuant to the Federal Brownfields Revitalization Act, the City of
Lynwood is eligible to apply for an EPA Brownfields Job Training Grant in the amount of
$200,000; and : "
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood is desirous to submit a proposal to expand its
currerit Brownfields activities to train Lynwood residents for f.uture employment in the
environmental field
' NOV1/, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby find,
proclaim, order and resolve as follows
Section 1~. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to carry out any
necessary transaations as so ordered by this resolution
i~: ,. Section 2. The City Manager may submit to a proposal to EPA for the
~~ Brownfields Assessment Grant. .
,
Section 3. If fhe proposal is selected for approval, the City is hereby
authorized to enter into a grant agreement with EPA and any other documents
necessary for the ,purposes set forth in the proposal and approved by EPA.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adopfiion
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 21S' day of January~2003
