RESOLl1TION NOe 2003.020
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVING THE MERCHANT APPLICATION AGREEMENT FOR CREDIT
CARD TRANSACTIONS WITH CARDSERVICE INTERNATIONAL AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT WITH THE.
SERVICE PROVIDER
WHEREAS, technological advancements have made it possible for
alternative methods of payment for business transactions; and
WHEREAS, Cardservice International was established in 1988 to provide
credit card pavment services to merchants: and
V11HEFtEAS, all web based transactions through the City of Lynwood's
website will be secure and .encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
technology; and
WHEREAS, establishing an online presence for City services and
merchandise would allow Lynwood residents access to a more convenient
method to pay for services and merchandises; and
WHEREAS, credit card transactions will be applied to other services such
as paying for the sign up costs for a sports league, buying a business license,
paying for a construction permits, water bill payments etc; and
WHEI2EAS9 fhrough the informal bid process, Cardservice International
provided the lowest overall service rates for credit card transactions.
NOW, TFiEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby
find, order and resolve as follows "
Section 1. That the Merchant Application Agreement with Cardservice
International is hereby approved.
Section 2. That the Mayor is authorized to execute the agreement with
Cardservice Internationai for credit card transactions.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROi/ED and ADOPTED this 4th day of Februarv, 2003.
