CALL TO ORDER
A City Council Work Session was called to order at 5:35 P.M. on January 14, 2008 by
President Pro Tempore Kevin Brown in the absence of Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Brown, Crane, Ferguson, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Layton, Medin, and
Penfold
Absent: Smith
A quorum was present. Councilman Brian Crane explained that he would need to leave
early in the meeting to attend a previous commitment.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE QUARTERLY UPDATE
Dave Turner introduced Randy Allen and Missy Bonnot. Mr. Allen made a presentation to
update the City Council on issues pertaining to economic development and community
development. Ms. Bonnot made a presentation regarding existing businesses, and gave
examples of three potential industrial clients with whom the Chamber had recently
negotiated to locate in Jefferson City. She stated progress is being made towards getting
Jefferson City on the "map" of potential locations looked at by industries who are seeking
to build or expand.
Councilman Brian Crane left the meeting towards the end of Ms. Bonnot's presentation.
Mayor John Landwehr arrived at this point in the meeting (5:58 P.M.).
FIRE APPARATUS LEASE DISCUSSION
Fire Chief Robert Rennick made a presentation regarding proposed funding to lease fire
vehicle replacement vehicles and equipment. Following his presentation, he answered
several questions asked by the Council. Following the presentation, Mayor Landwehr asked
staff to show what the program would look like between Sales Tax E and F, and also would
like to see an analysis of the plan with the 2006 vehicle remaining in service.
DEBRIS REMOVAL UPDATE
Community Development Director Pat Sullivan gave a report on the status of the ice storm
debris removal to date. He estimated that approximately 75% of the debris has now been

disposed of. Following his presentation, he recommended that the city not hire a contractor,
but allow city personnel to perform the work instead to save the city money.
Special recognition:
Mayor John Landwehr noted that a Boy Scout Troop is present tonight and welcomed them
on behalf of the City Council and asked them to introduce themselves. They indicated they
are members of Troop #7 from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and they
are attending the meeting to earn their Citizenship in the Community merit badges.
