A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
ADOPTING A MfMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
WITH THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
WHEREAS, at a recent Summit the Los Angeles County Department of
Parks and Recreation and the California Park & Recreation Society requested
,' ~ the 88 cities located in Los Angeles County support in promoting the message
~. "Creating Community Through People, .Parks, and Programs; and

WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles through its Department of Parks
and Recreation wishes to promote its role and each city's role in providing
recreation experiences, fostering human development, strengthening community
image and sense of place, strengthening safety and security, protecting natural
resources, increasing cultural unity, promoting health and wellness, and
facilitating community problem solving, in partnership with the 88 cities located in
Los Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles requests each city within the
County sign a Memorandum of Understanding indicating their willingness to use
the phrase "Creating Community Through People; Parks, and Programs at least
on their brochures and/or activity guides; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles assures each city that there is no
financial obligation either to any of the signatory cities, Los Angeles County, or to
the California Park & Recreation Society to use this phrase, or execute the MOU.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby
find, determine, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. This Memorandum of Understanding entered into with the
Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is approved.
Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED, adopted this 1St day of April 2003.
