A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCFL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
A'UTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FROM THE 2003/2004
FISCAL YEAR DURING.THE 2002/2003 FISCAL YEAR IN ORDER TO
CONDUCT THE 2003 FIESTAS PATRIAS PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood regularly conducts events to honor the
various cultures that rnake up the City of Lynwood; and '
.~ WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood annually conducts an event to
j I commemorate the independence 'days of various Latin American countries; and

` WHEREAS, This event is known as Fiestas Patrias; and ~
~ WHEREAS, A Comrnittee wiil be developed, as was the case last year,
with members made up of various organizations, businesses, agencies as well
as concerned citizens to plan the event for 2003, and
-WHEREAS, the Committee wi11 develop an exciting event similar to the
three- day program last year that included; a professional carnival, food and
game booths, entertainment as well as a parade; and -
~ WHEREAS, the Committee has determined that the cost of the program
will likeiy be very similar to that which was expended on the program for calendar
year 2001 as welt as cafendar year 2002; and
. 1NHEREAS, the amount of funds that are being designated for this event
within the proposed 2003/2004 fiscal 6udget is $25,000.
WHEREAS, in order to adequately prepare the program for conduction in
September 2003 it will be necessary to begin activities duririg the current fi~cal
year.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of~Lynwood does hereby
fi'nd, proclaim, order and resolve the foilowing:
Section 1. The Interim City Manager or her designee is authorized to
carryout any necessary transactions as so ordered by this cesolution.
` Section 2. The City Council authorizes funding in the amount of
$25,000 from the 2003/2004 fiscal budget,to be encumbered for. the Fiestas
Patrias Program during the 2002/2003 fiscal year. ~
Sectibn 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoptibn.
