CALL TO ORDER
A City Council Work Session was called to order at 5:30 P.M. on February 11, 2008 by
Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Brown, Crane, Ferguson, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Medin, and Penfold,
and Smith
Absent: Layton
A quorum was present.
LEGISLATIVE REPORT FROM CITY LOBBYIST
Mayor John Landwehr introduced the city's state government lobbyist, Tom Rackers, who
gave the Council a report on state legislation that could impact the City. He gave the Council
Members his email address and cell phone number and asked them to contact him at any
time they have questions about anything. Councilman Kevin Brown asked for a bill tracking
synopsis to be sent out again. City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus said he would do that. Mr.
Rackers left the meeting at this point (5:50 P.M.)
FIRE APPARATUS LEASE / PURCHASE PROGRAM
A lengthy presentation was given by Fire Chief Robert Rennick and City Administrator Steve
Rasmussen on the proposed fire apparatus lease / purchase program. Following their
presentation, they answered several questions. At the conclusion of the discussion, the
Council directed that a bill be introduced at the February 18 Council meeting to approve the
plan as presented by staff, and the following Council Members requested to be co- sponsors
on the bill: Brown (primary sponsor), Crane, Harvey, Koon, Medin, and Smith.
