HomeMy Public PortalAbout20120606 - Cable Advisory - Meeting Minutes MEETING MINUTES CABLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE June 06, 2012 Meeting called to order at 7 PM by Chairman Kurt Fliegauf Present: Kurt Fliegauf Chairman, Maureen Bumiller Vice Chairman, Bob Hamilton Secratary. Motion: to approve meeting minutes from October 25, 2011 meeting made by Maureen Bumiller seconded by Kurt Fliegauf. All in favor; non opposed the motion carried. A discussion was held to clarify the committee’s mission and responsibilities. The committee reviewed the Cable Television preliminary ascertainment findings. This review included segments of the May 25, 2011 public ascertainment hearing comments. The committee concured with the ascertainments conclusions. The committee reviwed the capital and operating fund budgets as presented for 2014 listed as ascertainment Exhibit B and Exhibit C. The committee agrees that there is a strong need for increasing the funding for the PEG access programming and operation over the contract period. The committee discussed the length on the contract, 10 years, and the onging maintenance demands over that period. The and requirment for a Third channel for the town’s cable related needs over the contract period is important to the town and it’s growing population. After furthur disscussion the committee agreed that the Cable Television Preliminary Ascertainment findings as presented from the May 25, 2011hearing be recommended to the Hopkinton Board of Selectmen as the basis for the renewal contract with Comcast for the next 10 year period. All in favor non opposed the motion carried. The commitee would like to thank the HCAM organization, especially Jim Cozzens, for providing insight into the many current and futur benifits cable access television provides and can provide to the town of Hopkinton .
