CALL TO ORDER
The March 14, 2008, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:00 P.M. by Mayor
John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Brown, Crane, Ferguson, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Medin, Penfold, and
Smith
Absent: Layton
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
City Administrator Steve Rasmussen announced that after today's meeting in the Millbottom
Room, Councilman Kenneth Ferguson and Councilwoman Jane A. Smith will do a review
of the March 10 work session on the CIP report which they missed.
2007 -165 (membership of Police Personnel Board) - Discussion was held regarding the
possibility of adding a position on the board from someone who is on the 9 -1 -1 Committee.
2007 -166 (parking on Argonne, Francis, and Vista) - Councilman Kevin Brown asked for
additional information from staff on this. Community Development Director Pat Sullivan
stated he would provide the requested information.
2007 -161 & 2007 -162 (Removal of board and commission members) - Councilman Ron
Medin asked for a substitute that would require that a person who no longer meets the
qualifications is automatically removed from the board or commission, and which would not
necessarily require a vote of the Council.
RS2007 -45 (Ad Hoc Arts Committee) - Discussion was held whether to do it now and
again after the April 8 election or do it only one time. Councilman Brian Crane asked if staff
can explain how this will relate to the Human Relations Commission.
RS2007 -46 (Affirmative Action Plan) - City Administrator Steve Rasmussen mentioned
the change in the first paragraph and Council asked that the old version be emailed to the
Council so they can compare the two.
