HomeMy Public PortalAboutWater Planning Information SheetWhat is it?
The water protection planning process
includes the following primary tasks:
Identifying where improved protection is
necessary.
Developing a clear, concise set of goals
and objectives for the management of the
Town’s water resources
Developing an Integrated Water Resources
Management Plan – this will help the Town
move forward with efforts to protect drinking
water, ponds and coastal waters.
Educating residents, businesses and
property owners and providing everyone
with multiple opportunities to comment on
the planning process.
Why are we doing it?
Water is central to what makes Brewster, and
all of Cape Cod, a wonderful place to live.
Healthy ponds, beautiful beaches, and
pristine drinking water all contribute to
Brewster’s quality of life, and our economy.
It is imperative that we protect these
resources for ourselves and for future
generations.
Who is doing it?
The Comprehensive Water Planning
Committee (CWPC)
Appointed by the Selectmen
Charged with coordinating the efforts of
Town staff and the Town’s consultant,
Camp, Dresser and McKee (CDM), to
prepare this long range plan that is critical
to maintaining the quality of life and
environmental health of our community
with sound scientific rationale and cost
justification.
When is it being done?
The first step – a comprehensive needs
analysis – is underway now.
The CWPC and CDM expect to issue the
finding from this analysis in late summer.
