A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN
THE ATTACHED "LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY AGREEMENT"
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood has been adversely affected by the Century
Freeway that caused several homes and businesses to be removed from the city; and
WMEREAS, Cal Trans owns several areas of excess land in the city that they do
not maintain on a regular basis; and '
WHEREAS, These excess properties have become repositories for trash and
debris and the city has expended a large sum of money maintaining these properties;
and
WHEREAS, The City and Redevelopment Agency are committed to
redeveloping the areas commonly referred to as the "Alameda Triangle" and "Power
Center" to further economic revitalization and increase the City's tax base; and
WHEREAS, The City has other outstanding Cal Trans issues that would be best
served by retaining a Legislative Advocate.
~ NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: ~
Section 1. The City Manager or her designee is authorized to carry out any
necessary transactions as so ordered by this resolution.
Section 2. That the Council authorize the Mayor to sign the "Legislative
Advocacy Agreement" in order to retain Earnest Governmental Relations for Legislative
Advocacy Services. ~
Section 3. That the Council authorize the appropriation of $22,500 to cover
costs relative to this agreement.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.

I
