A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LY.NWOOD APPROVING
THE APPROPRIATION OF FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM THE
UNAPPROPRIATED GENERAL FUND BALANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF
FINANCIAL PARTICIPATION IN THE LYNWOOD HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS
. BASKETBALL TEAM AWARDS PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood recognizes the significant historical value
~ of the accomplishments of tfie Lynwood High School Giris Basketball team; and
"" WNEREAS, the Lynwood Unified School District has approached the City
of Lynwood to participate as a co-sponsor for an Awards and Recognition Program to
honor #he Girls Basketball Team; and ,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood is desirous of
demonstrating their pride in the Team's accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, this activity was not identified as part of the 2002/2003
adopted fiscal budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Lynwood does
hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to carryout any and all
transactions as so ordered by this resolution. •
Section 2. That a fund appropriation in the amount of ($4,000) be executed as
follows:

~- Fund Balance 01-4771-4230 $4,000.00
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.

~.._._ On Friday evening, June 6, 2003, we will celebrate a"%night" to remember. The
. ' ~"Ly~rwood giigh School Girl's Basketball Boosters" will honor the L,ynwood High
~ ~ Schoo! Lady gnights Basketball Teane. This year's team finished the season as the #2
Girls Basketball Team in the nation by botb. USA Today and Student Sports Magazine.
~~ , This year's team completed the season with a record of 32 wins and l loses.

~ • State.ClF Southern Regional Champions ~

, ~ • #2 Team in the Nation ~
• The Lynwood Unified School District and members of the Lynwood community have
~ joined with the Girl's Basketball Boosters to support this very special event.. At this time,
we are asking our friends and business associates to lend their support to the Girls'
~ Basketball Banquet and a special Scholarship Fund, which is being established for
-graduating senio~s. To be more specific, we are asldng your organization to donate any
~ amount £rom 5500.00 to $5400.00 to support this special event. If this is not possible,. we
would appreciabe whatever donatiion you can give at this time. Your contributions will be
• ~ ~acl~owledged in the Banquet Program. ~ .
