HomeMy Public PortalAboutr 07:263 2RezoluHDtt .of tIre ~.orDugIr .of QIttrterd) ~ + W + No. 07-263 Date of Adoptioll Oc.tober 16, 2007 PETITION RESOLUTION INDUSTRIAL ROAD IMPROVEMENTSI TRAFFIC SIGNALS \VHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret is planning improvements to :rrtdustrial Road including the installation of two new traffic signals at the intersections with Roosevelt A venue; and \YHEREAS, a portion of the project funding is available through the Federal TEA-21 (Transportation Efficiency Act for the 21st Century) which is administered through the NJDOT and FWHA; and \VHEREAS, the Bonthem most Industrial Road and Roosevelt Avenue intersection is within the vicinity of an active at-grade Conrail railroad crossing which will require modifications to the crossing; and 'VHEREAS, the rail crossing modifications will require upgraded signage and pavement markings in the Borough's Industrial Road and Roosevelt Avenue rightvof-ways for which the Borough will retain and accepts maintenance responsibility; and \VHEREAS, in order to modify the rail road crossing a petition must be endorsed and filed by the Borough govenllng body; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council ofthe Borough of Carteret hereby endorses the filing of a petition for the rail crossing modification. ( One requirement of the Petition materials includes a Resolution ii'om the Borough. The Resolution must indicate the filing ofthe Petition has been approved by the governing body and the Borough accepts maintenance responsibility f6r the signs and pavement markings at the crossing under their jurisdiction (within Borough's ROW). As such, we respectfully request the Borough pass a Resolution indicating same at the October 18, 2007 meeting. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.
