Hunting Policy on Lands in the control of Brewster Water Commissioners
The Brewster Board of Water Commissioners reviewed the land use policy for hunting on
lands within their control at a scheduled commissioner’s meeting on October 16, 2014. The
following were agreed to unanimously:
Hunting will be permissible on land in the original wellfield, Wells # 1 & 2 off Freeman’s Way,
referenced as Brewster Assessor’s map 107, parcel 1 and adjoining lots on map 105 parcels 5,
6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Also, hunting will be allowed on the former Frey property, map 94
parcel 111 and map 106 parcels 1, 2 and 3.
This policy will be in effect as long as all other lawful requirements for hunting within the
Town of Brewster and of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts have been met. Brewster
Water Department employees are required to enter these parcels on a daily basis in the
performance of their regulated duties, therefore hunters are required to exercise extreme
caution while hunting these lands.
Hunting will not be allowed on land known as the Rafe Pond Watershed, Well #3 off
Freeman’s Way behind the Brewster Recreation Fields, referenced as Brewster Assessor’s map
120 parcel 2.
Hunting is forbidden on any lands within the Punkhorn Parklands that are under the custody and
control of the Brewster Water Department until such time that it is permitted by all other agencies of
the Town of Brewster having custody and control of the contiguous lands.
