AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2012 -10, AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING
THE SIZE OF THE DEPARTMENTS OF CITY GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF
GREENCASTLE, INDIANA, FIXING SALARIES FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF SUCH
DEPARTMENTS AND FIXING THE SALARIES OF CERTAIN OTHER APPOINTED
OFFICIALS FOR THE YEAR 2013
WHEREAS, Ordinance 2012 -10 established the salaries for employees of the City of
Greencastle for the year 2013;
WHEREAS, the two positions of Water Superintendent and Wastewater Superintendent were
combined in 2008 when the departments were merged into one utility department.
WHEREAS, Ordinance 2012 -10 lists the salary range for the Utility Superintendent at
$56,000.00- $57,100.00. This salary range is smaller than most other salary ranges for the City and
does not adequately take into consideration the range of certifications and licensures that persons in
that position are required to possess.
WHEREAS, Ordinance 2012 -10 lists the salary range for Laborer for the Cemetery
Department as $23,000.00 - $25,101.00. and the range for the Assistant Superintendent is $26,000.00-
$27,520.00, and the City believes the range should be broader in order to better address varying
degrees of experience.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that it
hereby amends Ordinance 2012 -10 as follows:

This Ordinance shall have full force and effect upon passage of the Greencastle Common
Council and its approval by the Mayor.
