RESOLUTION REGARDING PRIVATE SALE OF CERTAIN TAX FORFEIT PARCELS NEAR INDEPENDENCE BEACH WHEREAS, there exist certain tax forfeit parcels in the Independence Beach area of Medina, such parcels being enumerated on Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a part hereof; and WHEREAS, such parcels are undeveloped and unproductive because of their size, lack of access and/or public facilities or due to the presence of adverse natural conditions; and WHEREAS, such parcels could be sold to the owners of adjacent properties and combined with those properties to create larger and more beneficial parcels; and WHEREAS, the city of Medina is authorized by Minn. Stat., Section 282.01, Subdivision 7a to request the Hennepin county board to allow a private sale of such parcels under specified conditions if the sale will encourage return of the parcels to the tax rolls and compliance with the city's land use regulations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Medina, Minnesota as follows: 1. The city staff be authorized to contact the owners of adjacent properties and to explore the interest such persons may have in a private sale of the tax forfeit parcels. 2. The city staff be directed to report to the council in a timely manner the results of such discussions and to present to the council recommendations regarding the city's role, if any, in the sale of such parcels.
