Present for the C13 mriittee : David Telman, Marie Enochty, Claire Gradone, and Bob Miller Absent for the Committee : Jessica Larsen Present for the Administration: Thomas Conrad, Giovanna Venditti, Principal Joanna Hughes and Principal Patty Allen Special Guest : Mr. Chris Kenny, President of the Brewster Whitecaps Call to Order Chair Telman called the meeting to order at 6 : 00 p . m. Citizens Sneak Chris Kenney, President of the Brewster Whitecaps , addressed the Committee and thanked the Nauset Schools and the Brewster School Committee for all their support over the years . He thanked Patty Allen, Denise Fronius , Joanna Hughes , Bary Schofield, Giovanna Venditti, Barbara Lavoine, Susan Murray and her entire staff. He indicated that the ball club and volunteer organization is tremendously gratified as it is the first time Brewster has won the championship in 17 years . He thanked all the fans and the Brewster community . Chair Telman thanked the families who housed the Brewster Whitecaps as without them, Brewster would not have this opportunity. PRIORITY BUSINESS Administrators ' Reports Principals ' reports were included in the packet. Principal Hughes reported that the school is in great shape and that Recreation and NYA have been using the building all summer. She indicated that all staff has been hired and new students are using the online registration process . She indicated that Open House is September 14`x'. This year parents have an opportunity to update their essential data information on line and she encouraged parents to go to the Nauset Website to accomplish this update . The Superintendent recognized Principal Hughes as the mentor to Patty Allen , Principal Allen reported on opening day the two schools will come together at the Eddy School to get the full K-5 District view . Carpeting, painting, re4amping the entire school by Rise has taken place . The re4amping is as a result of the Cape Light Compact program, at no cost to the school and it will save a significant amount of money. She indicated that staffing is the same with the exception of adding a LTS , Mrs . Dyson, for a Grade 1 teacher on maternity leave and a new special needs teacher, Daniel Van Etta . She indicated the teachers have been in and out of the building all summer. She has received a wonderful welcome from staff and the community. Open House is September 19"' with a staggered schedule, 5 : 30 , 6 : 00 and 7 : 00 p .m. The Superintendent indicated that Dr. Caretti is looking at Preschool enrollment and noted that they have been watching the Kindergarten class numbers very carefully. FY17 Budget Review The final expense report from FY17 was reviewed by Giovanna Venditti . The balance at Eddy School was $2 . 14 . Twenty iPads were purchased. The balance at Stony Brook was $ 1 , 489 . 83 which was returned to the town. The Preschool tuition has been prepaid as well as SN transportation and some custodial supplies . Ms . Venditti reviewed the status of capital projects which included : carpet and tile replacement, walkway repairs, interior and exterior painting, technology projects , roof repairs (waiting for the vendor) , testing and abatement of asbestos . She indicated there has been excellent progress on capital projects . She also indicated that the Cape Light Compact and RISE have re4amped the buildings which will result in an annual savings of $24 , 000 . ($ 118 , 027 paid by Cape Light Compact) It was noted that the fall Town meeting will not have any capital projects from the schools . The committee is preparing a packet for the Joint School Committee meeting. Substance Abuse Subcommittee — No report Approval of Minutes On a motion by Robert Miller, seconded by Claire Gradone, it was voted to approve the minutes of June 15 , 2017 . 2017 . (Abstention — Marie Enochty) Adjournment On a motion by Claire Gradone, seconded by Bob Miller, it was voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 6 : 22 p . m. Respectfully submitted, Ann M .
