ORDINANCE NO. r::c t.5
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE FEE TO BE PAID
TO AN ATTORNEY APPOINTED TO REPRESENT AN
INDIGENT DEFENDANT WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL COURT AND
REPEALING ORDINANCE NUMBER 52.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BEL AIRE, KANSAS:
Section 1.
Court Appointed Attorney Fee
The fee to be paid to an attorney, properly appointed by the Judge of the Municipal Court
of Bel Aire, Kansas to represent an indigent defendant charged with a crime punishable with a jail
sentence in the Municipal Court of the City of Bel Aire, Kansas, shall be $75.00 per case.
Section 2.
Payment of Fee
The City Clerk is authorized to accept a statement, approved by the Judge of the
Municipal Court, from an attorney for services rendered to an indigent defendant and present it to
the Governing Body in a proper Appropriation Ordinance for payment.
Section 3.
Repeal of Ordinance 52
Ordinance 52 is hereby repealed.
Section 4.
Effective Date
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the official
city newspaper.
