A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF OPA-
LOCKA,FLORIDA,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ESTABLISH AN OPERATING BUDGET OF THIRTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS($30,000.00)FOR THE DEDICATION
CEREMONY FOR "PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA
AVENUE"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO PROVIDE THE CITY COMMISSION WITH THE TOTAL
EXPENDITURES FOR THE DEDICATION CEREMONY
WITHIN SIXTY (60)DAYS
WHEREAS, on December 10, 2008, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka
("City Commission") adopted Ordinance 08-28, approving the dual designation of Perviz Avenue
from Atlantic Avenue to Oriental Boulevard (NW 151st street) as "President Barack Obama
Avenue"in the City of Opa-locka("City"); and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has scheduled a dedication ceremony for the
designation of"President Barack Obama Avenue" for Monday, February 16, 2009; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission desires to authorize the City Manager to establish an
operating budget of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00) for the dedication ceremony for
"President Barack Obama Avenue"; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City Commission that the operating budget for the
dedication ceremony be offset by private contributions made payable to the City towards the
dedication of"President Barack Obama Avenue".
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes the City

Manager to establish an operating budget of Thirty Thousand Dollars($30,000.00)for the dedication
ceremony for"President Barack Obama Avenue",which may be offset by private contributions that
are made payable to the City of Opa-Locka for the street dedication of"President Barack Obama
Avenue."
Section 3. The City Manager is further directed to provide the City Commission with the
total expenditures for the dedication ceremony within sixty(60) days hereof.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
