RESOLUTION NO. 0 9-7 417
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA, ENCOURAGING
SUPPORT FOR THE"HOTSPOT"ANTI-CRIME CAMPAIGN
THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA
WHEREAS, the HotSpot campaign is a decade-old anti-crime program initiated by the
organization"People United to Lead the Struggle for Equality" ("P.U.L.S.E."); and
WHEREAS, the HotSpot campaign aims to empower residents to take back their
neighborhoods, report illegal activities with the "HotSpot" card while remaining anonymous
without the fear of retaliation from criminals; and
WHEREAS, since its inception, the HotSpot campaign has helped lead to hundreds of
arrests, confiscation of illegal drugs and helped catch instances of illegal dumping; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka ("City Commission") has
determined that the HotSpot campaign is a valuable initiative that should be implemented
throughout the City of Opa-locka("City"); and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to encourage support for the HotSpot anti-
crime campaign throughout the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby expresses its support
for the implementation of the HotSpot anti-crime campaign within the City of Opa-Locka and further
urges all Opa-locka residents to help curb crime through participation in the HotSpot campaign.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
