RESOLUTION OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CARTERET PLANNING
BOARD TO PREPARE AN AMENDMENT TO THE l\flDDLESEX
AVENUE RESIDENTIAL REDEVELOPMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:12A-I et
seq., as amended and supplemented (the ''Redevelopment Law") provides a process for
municipalities to participate in the redevelopment and improvement of areas in nee;d of
, redevelopment; and
WHEREAS, on August 11, :2007, the Borough Council, following the
recommendations of the Planning Board, adopted resolution number 05-246 determining
that Block 242, Lots i, 2, 3, and 5 constituted an "area in need ofredevelopment'~ under
the Redevelopment Law, designating the same as the Middlesex Avenue Residential
.Redevelopment Area (the ''Redevelopment Area"); and
WHEREAS, the Borough Council previously directed Beacon Planning and
Consulting Services ("BPCS") to prepare a redevelopment plan for said redevelopment
area; and
WHEREAS, BPCS prepared a redevelopment plan (the ''Redevelopment Plan") ,
for the Redevelopment Area, dated October 2005, entitled "Middlesex Avenue
Residential Redevelopment Plan,"; and
WHEREAS, on December 15, 2005, the Borough Council, purs~allt to Section 7
of the Redevelopment Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:12A-7) and based on the recommendation of
the Planning Board, adopted ordinance lllunber 05-62 approving and adopting the
Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Borongh desires to direct the Planning Board to prepare one or
more amendments to the Redevelopment Plan to allow for temporary light industrial and
accessory uses on Borough owned land within the Redevelopment Area, specifically
Block 242, Lot I;thereof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
Section 1. The Planning Board is hereby authorized and directed to prepare
one or more amendments to the Redevelopment Plan to allow for temporary light
industrial and accessory uses on Block 242, Lot I, with the Redevelopment Area (the
"Amendment(s)").
Section 2. The Planning Board is hereby authorized to utilize the services of
Beacon Planning and Consulting Services, LLC, as previously authorized, to assist the
Planning Board with the preparation ofthe Amendment(s) to the Redevelopment Plan.
Section 3. The Planning Board, upon completion of the Amendments to the
Redevelopment Plan, shall transmit the amended Redevelopment Plan to the Borongh
Council for its adoption.

Section 4. The Borough Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward.
this Resolution to the PlalUling Board for action consistent herewith.
Section 5.
This resolution shall take effect inunediate1y npon its adoption.
Section 6. Upon the adoption hereof, the Borough Clerk shall forward
certified copies of this resolution to Borough's Law Department.
