RESOLUTION OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CARTERET PLANNING
BOARD TO PREPARE AN AMENDMENT TO THE WEST
CARTERET MlNUE STREET RETAIL REDEVELOPMENT
AREA PLAN
WHEREAS, the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law, -N.J.S.A. 40A:12A-I et
seq., as amended and supplemented (the "Redevelopment Law") provides a process for
municipalities to participate in the redevelopment and improvement of areas in need of
. redevelopment; and
WHEREAS, on July 21, 2005, the Borough Council, following the
recommendations of the Planning Board, adopted resolution number 05-227 determining
that certain designated real properties constituted an "area in need of redevelopment"
.under the Redevelopment Law, designating the same as the vVest Carteret Minue Street
Retail Redevelopment Area (the ''Redevelopment Area"); and
WHEREAS, the Borough COlffiCil previously directed Beacon Planning and
Consulting Services ("BPCS") to prepare a redevelopment plan for said Redevelopment
Area; and
WHEREAS, BPCS prepared a redevelopment plan (the ''Redevelopment Plan") ,
for the Redevelopment Area, dated November 2005, entitled "West Carteret Mimle Street
Retail Redevelopment Area Plan,"; and
WHEREAS, on January 26,2006, the Borough Council, pursuant to Section 7 of
the Redevelopment Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:12A-7) and based on the recommendation of the
- Planning Board, adopted ordinance number 06-02 approving and adopting the
Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Borough desires to direct the Planning Board to prepare one or
more amendments to the Redevelopment Pjan to permit light indnstrial and distribution
uses in conjunction with retail outlets/stores on Block 50.01, Lots 7-9; and Block 50.01,
Lots 20.01-20.04, 22-26 and 32.03 within the Redevelopment Area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
Section 1. The Planning Board is hereby authorized and directed to prepare
one or more amendments to the Redevelopment Plan to pennit light. industrial and
distribution uses in conjunction with retail outlets/stores on Block 50.01, Lots 7-9; and
Block 50.01, Lots 20.01-20.04, 22-26 and 32.03 within ihe Redevelopment Area (the
"A.mendment( s )").
Section 2. The Planning Board is hereby authorized to utilize the services of
Beacon Planning and Consulting Services, LLC, as previously authorized, to assist the
Planning Board with the preparation of the A.mendment(s) to the Redevelopment Plan.

Section 3. The Planning Board, upon completion of the Amendments to the
Redevelopment Plan, shall transmit the amended Redevelopment Plan to the Borough
COlUlCil for its adoption.
Section 4. The Borough Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward
this Resolution to the Plarming Board for action consistent herewith.
Section 5.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
Section 6. Upon the adoption hereof, the Borough Clerk shall forward
certified copies of this resolution to Borough's Law Department.
