A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL
DOCUMENTS RELATIVE TO THE AB 939 WORK
PLAN AS REQUIRED BY THE STATE 1NTEGRATED
WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD'S COMPLIANCE
ORDER NO. IWMA BR03-03

'~ WHEREAS, the State Assembly Bi11939 (AB 939) requires municipalities
in the State of California to divert 50% of generated trash by the year 2000; and
WHEREAS, .The City of Lynwood could only achieve a 12% diversion
rate, thereby did not meet AB 939 requirements; and -
WHEREAS, the California lntegrated Waste Management Board
(CIWMB) has issued Compliance Order IWMA BR03-03 to the City, which requires the
City to adopt a work plan to bring the City in compliance; and
WHEREAS, City staff and CIWMB staff have finalized said work plan;
and
WHEREAS, CIWMB ~ requires the City to adopt this work plan by
November 1, 2003.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Lynwood as follows:
; Section 1. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager or his
~~ designee to execute all documents relative to the AB 939 work plan as required by the
California lntegrated Waste Management Board's Compliance Order No. IWMA
BR03-03 -
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
