A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
ESTABLISHING A SISTER CITY COMMITTEE AND CHARGING THIS
COMMITTEE WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PROVIDING ADVISORY
SUPPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL RELATIVE TO SISTER CITY ACTIVITIES
WHEREAS, The Sister City program provides communities with the opportunity
to expand their cultural, civic, educational and economic horizons; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood has actively participated in the Sister City
program for many years; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood has Sister City relationships with communities
in such countries as Mexico; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood has exchanged delegations with these various
cities to promote such programs as; youth sports, culture and arts, education,'
medicine, government and economic. development; and
WHEREAS, Many communities have Sister City Associations to coordinate
Sister City programs within their communities; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood has no Committee currently whose sole
responsibility is to provide the City Council with advisory support relative to the
Sister City program.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council establishes the Sister City ,
Committee with the responsibility of providing
advisory recommendations to the City Council
regarding the Sister City program.
Section 2. This resolution shall go into effect immediately upon
its adoption. '
