A RESOLUTION OF THE~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
ESTABLISHING A LYNWOOD CULTURA~ TOURISM COMMIl-fEE TO EXPLORE
AIVD GENERATE IDEAS FOR DEVELOPING THE TOURISM INDUSTRY IN
LYNWOOD
~,, WHEREAS, the tourism industry is an economic strategy that has
I successfully revitalized many American cities; and

~ WHEREAS, tourism for many American cities is the single largest
source of revenue; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has a rich historical ~basis and
because of its diversity is among the most culturally enriched
communities in California; and
WHEREAS, although the City of Lynwood is noted for its dynamic
and culturally diverse special events programming and has garnered
national recognition, it has not capitalized economically on its diversity or
its historical attributes; and
WHEREAS, the creation of a Cultural Tourism Committee provides
the opportunity to explore the feasibility of incorporating tourism into
the City's economic future; and
WHEREAS, The Cultural Tourism Committee would be responsible
for developing strategies to attract businesses and cultural entertainment
(z"' venues to the City; and
t- WHEREAS, The Cultural Tourism-Committee would be selected by
the Lynwood City Council and comprised of local business owners,
interested residents and tourism experts.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the Cit'y
of Lynwood does hereby find, order, proclaim and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the Lynwood Cultural Tourism Committee shall be
established by the City Council and members of the committee shall be
responsible for developing strategies for attracting the tourism industry
to Lynwood. '
Section 2. That this resolution has been introduced by Mayor
Fernando Pedroza.
Section 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
