HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-7440 RFP for Website Design Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 0 9-7 4 4 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) FOR CITY WEBSITE DESIGN SERVICES WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City Opa-locka("City Commission")is interested in having a website that will offer more services and information to residents of the City of Opa- locka("City") and to other interested parties; and WHEREAS,the current website structure and design was developed years ago and requires significant redesign to take advantage of new design elements and the growing demand for electronic services; and WHEREAS, the City's goal in issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) is to provide electronic access to public services; serve as a user-friendly public communications tool; reduce transaction costs for the City and its citizens; and streamline business operations; and WHEREAS, issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) would allow the City to consider proposals from qualified individuals or firms. WHEREAS,the City Commission desires to issue an RFP for City website design services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes the City Manager to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for City website design services from qualified individuals or firms. Resolution No. 0 9—7 4 4 0 Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized to take all necessary and expedient action to effectuate the intent of this Resolution. Section 4. ERVICES fs Reuest: AUT Z q E MANAGEMENT TO ADVERTISE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR A QUALIFIED FIRM TO PROVIDE CITY WEBSITE DESIGN SERVICES, PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT NO. 16-512491 Description: It is the City's wish to redesign the site to support usual e-government transactions. The redesigned site will have a theme promoting the City with a friendly and professional feel. Our goal is to provide simple electronic access to public services, serve as a public communications tool,reduce transaction costs for the City and citizens, and to streamline business operations. Financial Impact: This service was not included in the FY 2009 Adopted Budget. However, this is a project that we recommend in order to provide better service and information to the residents. We will include the cost of this project in the FY 2009 Budget Amendment. Implementation Timeline: A recommendation will be brought to the City Commission within 60 days of advertisement. Legislative History: None. Recommendation(s): Staff recommends approval. Analysis: The current site structure and design was developed years ago and requires significant redesign to take advantage of new design elements and the growing demand for electronic services. The new website will provide easy access to City services, be adaptable to current and changing technology, provide content management capability for City Staff and be used as a public communications tool.
