A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA AMENDING AND
CLARIFYING RESOLUTION NO. 07-7074, RESOLUTION
08-7314 AND RESOLUTION 08-7342 IN SUPPORT OF VICE
MAYOR DOROTHY "DOTTIE" JOHNSON'S
"HEALTH/WELLNESS SHOWDOWN" FOR ADULTS AND
CHILDREN AND EXTENDING THE WEIGH-IN DATE TO
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11,2009
WHEREAS,out of a desire to encourage all residents of the City of Opa-locka to maintain
good health, Vice-Mayor Dorothy"Dottie"Johnson spearheaded a"Health/Wellness Showdown"
by sponsoring Resolution No. 07-7074 and its supporting amendments in Resolution No. 08-7314
and Resolution No. 08-7342; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka("City Commission")desires to
extend the"Health/Wellness Showdown"exercise program and weigh-in date from March 11,2009
to September 11, 2009; and
WHEREAS, at the next convenient City Commission meeting following September 11,
2009, the City Commission desires to recognize the "Health/Wellness Showdown" in the manner
previously approved by the City Commission in Resolution No. 08-7314,to include certain awards
and prizes.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.

Section 2. Resolution No. 07-7074, Resolution No. 7314 and Resolution No. 08-7342
are hereby further amended to extend the "Health/Wellness Showdown" exercise program and
weigh-in date from March 11, 2009 to September 11, 2009.
Section 3. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes that at the
next convenient City Commission meeting following Friday, September 11, 2009, the City
Commission recognize the "Health/Wellness Showdown" in the manner previously approved by
City Commission Resolution No. 08-7314, to include certain awards and prizes for program
participants.
