CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO. &--7
RESOLUTION GRANTING A VARIANCE
TO THOMAS CROSBY TO PERMIT FOUR ACCESSORY
STRUCTURES ON TRACT A, R.L.S. 1258
WHEREAS, Thomas Crosby (Applicant) has applied for a vari-
ance to permit four accessory structures at 1612 Willow Drive,
which property is legally described as Tract A, R.L.S. 1258,
Hennepin County, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, Section 825.19 of the Medina City Code restricts
the number of accessory buildings on a 9.5 acre parcel to two;
and
WHEREAS, two existing accessory structures shall be removed
from the property; and
WHEREAS, the four accessory structures will total 2,992
square feet in size, which is less than the maximum square
footage permitted by the Medina City Code; and
WHEREAS, two of the accessory structures which will remain
on the property are each less than 100 square feet in size; and
WHEREAS, the Medina city code allows the City Council to
grant a variance from the strict interpretation of the zoning
requirements in the case of demonstrated hardship and if granting
the variance will not violate the spirit and intent of the
ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Applicant appeared before the Planning Commis-
sion on July 8, 1986 and the City Council on July 15, 1986 in
regard to this matter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Medina, Minnesota that a variance be granted to allow
four accessory structures on the subject property due to the fact
that the total square footage of the structures will be less than
the maximum allowed by the Medina City Code and two of the
buildings are very small and are screened from adjacent proper-
ties.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Medina City Council as fol-
lows:
1. The two additional structures permitted by this variance
shall be considered to be the chicken coop and the duck
house.
2. Neither of the additional structures shall be used to house
animals.
3. The two sheds currently existing on the property shall be
razed.
