HomeMy Public PortalAbout1986-059Member kcion cA,-J moved its adopted: introduced the following resolution and CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. &--7 RESOLUTION GRANTING A VARIANCE TO THOMAS CROSBY TO PERMIT FOUR ACCESSORY STRUCTURES ON TRACT A, R.L.S. 1258 WHEREAS, Thomas Crosby (Applicant) has applied for a vari- ance to permit four accessory structures at 1612 Willow Drive, which property is legally described as Tract A, R.L.S. 1258, Hennepin County, Minnesota; and WHEREAS, Section 825.19 of the Medina City Code restricts the number of accessory buildings on a 9.5 acre parcel to two; and WHEREAS, two existing accessory structures shall be removed from the property; and WHEREAS, the four accessory structures will total 2,992 square feet in size, which is less than the maximum square footage permitted by the Medina City Code; and WHEREAS, two of the accessory structures which will remain on the property are each less than 100 square feet in size; and WHEREAS, the Medina city code allows the City Council to grant a variance from the strict interpretation of the zoning requirements in the case of demonstrated hardship and if granting the variance will not violate the spirit and intent of the ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Applicant appeared before the Planning Commis- sion on July 8, 1986 and the City Council on July 15, 1986 in regard to this matter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina, Minnesota that a variance be granted to allow four accessory structures on the subject property due to the fact that the total square footage of the structures will be less than the maximum allowed by the Medina City Code and two of the buildings are very small and are screened from adjacent proper- ties. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Medina City Council as fol- lows: 1. The two additional structures permitted by this variance shall be considered to be the chicken coop and the duck house. 2. Neither of the additional structures shall be used to house animals. 3. The two sheds currently existing on the property shall be razed. DATED: u„$ - , 1986.
